Last Day on Thassos: Potos Beach & Skala Maries

Ποτός και Σκάλα Μαριών, Θάσος 🇬🇷

With today being our final full day on Thassos, we wanted to spend as much of it enjoying ourselves, relaxing, ahead of the start of the journey home tomorrow.

I went to the bakery first thing as usual – I got spanakopita (spinach pie), bougatsa and a chocolate & biscuit crumb donut, plus some rolls for lunch. Half the bougatsa and half the donut were my breakfast. I had the other half with lunch.

Dad stayed at the pool in the morning but Mum and I went out in the car to the beach. We thought we’d try Ρωσογκρεμός (Rossogremos) Beach, which we remember a friend taking us to many years ago (probably 20 years ago). Described online as “Still relatively unknown to most people, it is the perfect place for those seeking quietness and peacefulness. You will find some sunbeds and umbrellas” … Unfortunately today it was nowhere near ‘relatively unknown‘ – there was very little space, it was packed full of people…

So we moved on and went back to Potos Beach. Or rather, the end which is actually known as San Antonio Beach. We’ve not spent nearly as much time there as we should have done – it is a nice beach, soft sand, nice and shallow, easy to get in and out – and crucially plenty of space!

Afterwards we returned to the apartment for lunch, and then we all went out together to Σκάλα Μαριών (Skala Marion), which was noticably quieter today than it was in the past. We do like that beach – just a short walk away from the town too, it is a good choice. The water there is so clear!

For dinner this evening we went back to the same restaurant we ate at on the first night – I had my beef giouvetsi again, very tasty. Mum and I browsed the gift shops and then met Dad back at the pool bar outside our apartment. It is always good to sit there and talk to Nikos, the owner.

Starting the journey home tomorrow – getting the ferry back to the mainland and staying overnight at a hotel just a few mins drive from Thessaloniki Airport.

Καληνύχτα,

Φ.Χ.
