Πλαγιάρι, Θεσσαλονίκη 🇬🇷
Today we left Thassos and have started the journey back home to Cirencester, our holidays over for another year.
Before leaving Thassos I took the opportunity to buy a couple of gifts for friends back home; and as today is Corrie’s birthday we did a family WhatsApp call from beside the pool at the apartment. A final swim, and then, time to pack the car.
We left the apartment just after midday and drove to Thassos Town, to get the ferry back to the mainland port of Κεραμωτή (Keramoti).
Safely back on the mainland, I set the sat nav for Θεσσαλονίκη (Thessaloniki), where we would be staying for the night before our flight back home tomorrow. We stopped half way for lunch at the service station just outside Μουσθένη (Moustheni).
Back in the car, it took us a total of 3 hours to drive back to Thess (including stopping time). A swim was needed after that. Part of the poolside bar complex was closed for the setup of a “private function”. We could still swim – just had to swim at one end. We could still eat in the evening -just at one end. Which we did.
We’re not sure exactly but it seemed to be a wedding party. Complete with a live band, and dancing: Genuine Greek dancing from the guests – not simply a show for the tourists.
Tomorrow we fly home. Back to England – Back to Cirencester – Back to life.
