In Search of a Quieter Shore
In the afternoon, we got in the car and headed to the nearby town of Ολυμπιάδα (Olympiada), about a 20 minute drive down the coast in the neighbouring region of Χαλκιδική (Halkidiki). The beach there was packed – we should have known: The final Saturday in August. It isn’t a bank holiday weekend in Greece, but many tourists are finishing their holidays this weekend. Οι ετήσιες οικογενειακές μας διακοπές στην Ελλάδα ξεκίνησαν επιτέλους: Μία εβδομάδα στον Σταυρό Θεσσαλονίκης και στη συνέχεια μία δεύτερη εβδομάδα στη Θάσο. I Drive Like A Greek…
Our annual family holiday in Greece has finally begun: One week in Σταυρός (Stavros), on the East coast of the Θεσσαλονίκη (Thessaloniki) area – followed by a second week on Θάσος (Thassos).
